In many ways, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is just an updated version of the S4. However, this still means an Android 4.4 KitKat OS and 16GB of storage. The 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor makes this phone one of the fastest on the market. Fortunately, it has a battery that matches, providing just short of eight hours of on-screen performance. Users can also use Power Saving and Ultra Power Saving modes to extend the life of this phone’s battery.
One major change Samsung made was adding a 5.1 inch screen on this device. The extra 0.1 inches this device has over the screen on the last model is definitely noticeable.
Another great addition is the 16-megapixel camera on this phone. That is three pixels more than what the Galaxy S4 could provide and the difference is crisp colors, hard edges and rich contrasts. The ISOCELL sensor and co-processing power on this device also make its camera much quicker. Pictures taken in low light are easier to decipher too. This phone can also take pictures every 0.3 seconds, making just about any action shot possible. These are just some of the camera tricks Samsung has made available with the Galaxy S5.
When it comes to design, the Galaxy S5 is basically the same as the S4. The rounded rectangular shape is still there as is the plastic used. However, the back of the S5 strays from prior models by having a matte finish and subdued surface. The result means less glare and smudges that need to be wiped off.
There are a number of really fun features on this phone too, like the physical convenience button. Press it to bring up the Activity Zone dashboard which has a compass, barometer, stopwatch, flashlight and more.
