The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is essentially exactly what the name promises: all the functionality and good parts of a Galaxy S4, just in a much smaller package. Samsung accomplishes this, in large part, by using midrange components inside, though performance doesn’t suffer.
Despite its smaller stature, this is still a Galaxy, meaning it runs large and has plenty to offer. Its measurements are 4.9 inches tall, 2.4 inches wide and 0.4 inches thick. It also weighs just 3.88 ounces.
Its actual design is almost identical to the Galaxy S4. The body is plastic with rounded edges, silver along the sides and there is a physical home button on the front. For the back of this phone, you can choose between “marble white” and “black mist” patterns. Even the locations of the volume rocker, power/lock button, headset jack and micro-USB charging port are the same as this model’s big brother.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini’s screen is 4.3 inches, meaning it’s actually larger than the iPhone 5s in this regard (though otherwise, they’re about the same size). This phone also runs an HD display. Its camera is an eight megapixel device that comes with autofocus capability and can definitely stack up against others its size.
With this model, you’re benefiting from the Android 4.2 OS and a dual-core processor. A lot of the cool features from the S4 carried over too, including S Voice, Group Play, S Memo and Smart Stay. These are just a handful of the many applications and features that are accessible on this phone, like the IR blaster which allows you to use this device to control your TV.
While you can expand storage on this phone to 64GB, know that it comes with 8GB standard.
